THEMES

In this section You can find the substance of today’s CAP through the metaphor of “cultural nodes”:

The nodes act as a stimulus, a point of departure for broader considerations and provide children, teachers and parents with “an opportunity to think and think again in ways quite different from what they are used to” (R. Conserva). Each “node” is identified with key words that represent “cultural and educational research directions”. It is supported by brief operational suggestions concerning educational activities and experiences. (For further cultural, bibliographical and website references, see the project website www.lacampagnaascuola.it) The model of cultural change presented is in general positive, educational and operational, and expresses future challenges and the role of the CAP as a living and contemporary policy.

We suggest to study them in depth through two distinct didactic themes:

Paco and the Puddle-jumpers Gang are leading us in this trip through their adventures in CAP County, in other words the European Union. The starting point of this trip is the Map. Its reading and interpretation is the key to the cultural and methodological pathway proposed this year to both students and teachers. The discovery of the mystery map is where the journey begins.

Paco

Activity: The Map of the journey can be reproduced in large format so that it can be used to follow the route of the class and show the different exploring styles of the students. Before this, however, it can create suspense and develop motivations and hypotheses as well as predictive abilities.
